Austin is a Level 1 CrossFit Coach and in the third year of a Physical Literacy BA at Mount Royal University. He is in the infancy of his career, but aims to do great things! Currently, Austin provides individualized exercise programming and can safely prescribe nutritional plans. His focus is on improving muscle imbalances, improving cardiovascular training, and seeking further to specialize in muscle growth and development and injury prevention. He began his exercise career as a triathlete in his pre-teens, moving towards bodybuilding in his later years, and eventually finding CrossFit. He placed 150th in the Canada West Open, with his best “Fran” time being 2:37.
Austin has been a coach for over a year and has easily coached 100+ hours. His next career goal (other than to graduate) is to receive his Level 2 because he loves coaching so much! He is a regular guy who possesses the spirit of competition and the love for adversity. When it comes to people, he is committed to giving the utmost level of dedication to each individual, and is ready to share all of his knowledge, love, and respect for fitness; providing answers to those who seek guidance. Austin is extremely excited to be working at the JCC and sharing his love for CrossFit with the community!
Motto: There is no shortcut to success. There is no replacement for hard work. You earn it. Period.
Following an achilles injury that sidelined him from competitive track and field, Adam bounced from training style to training style until one of his friends took him through the CrossFit “Dirty 30” workout in 2014. This was the closest he felt to the intensity of competitive track and was immediately hooked. CrossFit Open competitions eventually led to competing at the CanWest Games in 2018 and 2019, which drew Adam to getting his Level 1 certification and into the world of coaching. He’s always been fascinated with human performance, and with two exercise physiology degrees from the University of Calgary under his belt, Adam is extremely excited to help our community to grow both fitter and closer together.
Although his competitive track and field days are long behind him, Adam loves the similar camaraderie found though CrossFit and is passionate about being involved in a sport that exposes people to such a huge variety of challenges, as opposed to simply running counter-clockwise as fast as possible. He is very excited to team up with Coach Austin to enable J-Factory CrossFit to grow and flourish at the JCC. When not in the gym, you can find Adam on the ski hill or working on perfecting his pad thai recipe (the secret is in the tamarind sauce). He looks forward to meeting everyone and feels privileged to have the chance to better ourselves, together!
